Three UniLodz Researchers Among the Winners of the START 2026 Programme

Two female researchers and one male researcher from the University of Lodz are among the 100 most talented young scientists in Poland under the age of thirty. The Foundation for Polish Science has announced the results of the 34th edition of the START programme – the country’s oldest scholarship programme for young researchers who can already boast significant achievements at the early stage of their academic careers.

The laureates of the START 2026 programme from our University include:

  • Dr Sebastian Czechowicz from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lodz, Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Law. In his academic work, he focuses on the criminal law protection of human health and public health against the spread of infectious diseases, with particular emphasis on the operation of the system of mandatory vaccinations.
  • Dr Jadwiga Goniewicz-Potocka from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Lodz conducts research at the Department of 19th-Century Literature. Her interests include the history of Polish literature of the second half of the 19th century, scholarly editing and genetic criticism, especially manuscript traces of the creative process as well as unfinished and unpublished works of prose writers at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
  • Mgr Aleksandra Olbryk from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lodz is a doctoral student at the University of Lodz Doctoral School of Social Sciences and an assistant at the Department of European Economic Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lodz. Her research interests focus on EU consumer law, digital transformation and sustainable development, including dark patterns and the legal limits of influencing consumer decisions.
     

The START programme of the Foundation for Polish Science supports outstanding young scholars representing all fields of science. Laureates of this year’s edition will receive annual scholarships of PLN 30,000, enabling them to focus on further research work and academic development. In the 34th call for applications, 807 submissions were received, from which the 100 best young researchers were selected.

At the University of Lodz, we are proud to follow the successes of those who form our academic community. Each such distinction confirms that the passion, research courage and consistent work of our researchers have a real impact on the development of Polish and international science. We are pleased that our researchers undertake socially important, interdisciplinary topics that respond to contemporary challenges.
