Migration, Diversity and Practical Engagement with Migrant Communities
The Summer School organised within the UNIC alliance is devoted to contemporary challenges related to migration, the integration of foreign nationals, and the practical functioning of systems for the protection of migrants’ rights. The programme is designed as an interdisciplinary initiative and is addressed to students of law, sociology, international relations, psychology, social sciences, and related disciplines.
The Summer School combines an academic perspective with elements of clinical education, focusing on the practical aspects of working with migrants – including individuals in vulnerable situations – as well as on the role and functioning of public and international institutions in the field of migration. The aim of the programme is to develop substantive knowledge, communication skills, and competencies necessary for working in a multicultural environment.
The thematic scope of the Summer School includes, inter alia:
- Migration policy in Europe
- Social integration of foreigners
- International standards for the protection of migrants’ rights
- International Courts and Migrants
- Navigating Diversity in Migration: Rights, Identities and Inclusion
- Multiculturalism in the workplace
- Administrative issues related to migration
- Communication with a foreigner
- Practical communication workshops
The programme will be delivered in the form of lectures, seminars, and interactive workshops, with particular emphasis on case studies, simulations of contact with migrant clients, and teamwork in international groups.
Participants
A total of 40 participants will be selected to take part in the workshops. Participants shall be selected in the order of submitted applications.
Organisational information and funding
The Summer School is organised as part of the activities carried out under Thematic Line 4 (TL4): Justice, Security and Institutions.
The project is funded by the Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej (NAWA), Programme: Support for European Universities (the programme is funded by the European Union under the project Support for European University Alliances, project number FERS.01.05-IP.08-0219/23), within call for proposals No. 6/2024 of 8 April 2024.

[POLISH VERSION] Migration, Diversity and Practical Engagement with Migrant Communities
Szkoła letnia organizowana w ramach sojuszu UNIC poświęcona jest współczesnym wyzwaniom związanym z migracją, integracją cudzoziemców oraz praktycznym funkcjonowaniem systemów ochrony praw migrantów. Program został zaprojektowany w formule interdyscyplinarnej i skierowany jest do studentów prawa, socjologii, stosunków międzynarodowych, psychologii, nauk społecznych i pokrewnych dyscyplin.
Szkoła letnia łączy perspektywę akademicką z elementami nauczania klinicznego, koncentrując się na praktycznych aspektach kontaktu z cudzoziemcami – w tym z osobami w sytuacjach wrażliwych – oraz na funkcjonowaniu instytucji publicznych i międzynarodowych w obszarze migracji. Celem programu jest rozwijanie wiedzy merytorycznej, kompetencji komunikacyjnych oraz umiejętności pracy w środowisku wielokulturowym.
Zakres tematyczny szkoły letniej obejmuje m.in.:
- Polityka migracyjna w Europie
- Integracja społeczna cudzoziemców
- Międzynarodowe standardy ochrony praw migrantów
- Sądy międzynarodowe a migranci
- Zarządzanie różnorodnością w procesach migracyjnych: prawa, tożsamości i inkluzja
- Wielokulturowość w środowisku pracy
- Zagadnienia administracyjne związane z migracją
- Komunikacja z cudzoziemcem
- Warsztaty z komunikacji
Zajęcia będą prowadzone w formie wykładów, seminariów oraz warsztatów interaktywnych, z naciskiem na analizę przypadków, symulacje kontaktu z klientem cudzoziemskim oraz pracę w grupach międzynarodowych.
Uczestnicy
Łącznie zostanie wybranych 40 osób uczestniczących do udziału w warsztatach. O zakwalifikowaniu uczestników decyduje kolejność zgłoszeń.
